Next Training: Session 1: April 2nd-13th/session 2: May 14th-25th 2012

“Sherry teaches from the roots of the yoga experience.  I feel secure and grounded in my practice and my sharing of yoga because my learning is sunk deep down in my earth.  That is Sherry’s emphasis-what is true for me, not the pose, but the person.   The FLY Yoga Teacher Training is an opportunity to feel your own truth, and to offer it. “ Kimberly Cartwright, OM of Motion Studio”

FLY Yoga School Teacher Training celebrates the profound teachings of yoga, and the practice of yoga as a tool for inner and outer evolution.

Our yoga school and philosophy is an adaption of Sherry’s 15+ years of yoga study, teaching and personal experience, including all of the below styles and applications, an all based on the premise that we practice, teach and live from the heart.

  • Atma Holistic
  • Vinyasa Yoga
  • Bhakti Yoga
  • Tantra
  • Core Stability
  • Hatha Yoga

Sherry teaches a soulful, fluid and dynamic practice. We link our breath to our movement, stack poses from basic to more complex, move towards balance between our active and receptive selves, and seek compassion, truth, and acceptance in body mind and spirit. Sherry weaves in the spirit, magic and integrity of the yoga teachings and the practice of self awareness into every class without taking it all too seriously. Each class is a celebration of life itself!

The practice of yoga asks us to “live in the layers” of our selves and our every day lives. Sherry teaches that yoga in and of itself does not add anything to us or  “improve” us. Instead, yoga helps us to shed the many layers of protection and life experiences that we have used to cover up from our true Selves and connect to the already complete, centered, lovable and fiercely capable version of ourselves.

Teaching yoga is deep journey that asks of us to cultivate a great deal of self-study, compassion, wisdom, skill and love for what we do. This training is for all interested in diving into the teachings of yoga-whether you want to expand your understanding and deepen your practice only, or you plan on teaching yoga someday. Learning to be in the role of the teacher is an exceptional tool to learn for all endeavors in life- helping us to become better communicators and empaths, and in living through this lifetime with speaking from our true, one of a kind voice.

During the training, we will use our personal practice and evolution as the platform for teaching.  As well as our own journey, is that of the Sangha, or group, because together we create the sacred space to go deeper into inner healing and transformation, and have fun and “play” as both student and teacher. We will practice and learn to weave together dynamic asanas (postures), pranayama (breathwork), yoga philosophy, meditation, subtle body understanding, ayurveda and various techniques to experience the strong and fluid energy of our being and at the heart of the yoga practice.

In the training, we will explore being teachers, including: teaching points, how to tune into and use your authentic voice in public, expressing our individual nature in your teaching, understanding the natural “arc” of a class and using intelligent sequencing, how to cultivate a sense of community and create safe and inspiring classes, a deep understanding of the anatomical body-both physical and subtle, the art of hands-on assists, key points to touch, “reading” bodies and energy, how to keep yourself safe and protected while teaching, and how to integrate the profound teachings of yoga into relate-able life themes.

We will also learn how to work with students with special focus and/or needs; such a therapeutic yoga, restorative yoga, prenatal/postpartum yoga, teaching yoga to men, and working with clients privately. The business of yoga will be discussed, focusing on how to manifest abundance in life and with your yoga teaching.

“My experience in the FLY Yoga teacher training was simply amazing. It went beyond, and in some ways, completely outside of, what I’d expected. As one of the oldest people in the training, and as one of the few men, I was somewhat intimidated by the prospect of leaping in to a room full of young, stretchy, and emotionally unrepressed yoginis. (“Somewhat intimidated” is repressed-male-speak for “terrified”.) But Sherry created an environment that was fun, but serious about the yoga, and very challenging, but at the same time safe. The whole group became so bonded that the feeling of support was palpable. None of this captures the magic that happened there. I expected hip-openers (still a work in progress); I got heart-openers. There was something about the setting, the people, the spiritual focus. I went in one way and came out another. I am so profoundly glad I did it.- Geoff Parkhurst

“Sherry Sidoti is an exquisite teacher – on so many levels. Her very special skills born of years of study and practice combine with her beginner’s mind and inquiry, her devotion and her extensive professional preparation for her trainings. …But even more important to me than all of this in her training, was experiencing Sherry LIVING her yoga. She embodied it. She honored it. She breathed it into all of us students with a breath born of true devotion and wisdom. I am so grateful for every moment I have had to study with her, and look forward to every moment I will most certainly have in the future.”~ Sharon Strimling

“Ok, so let’s forget the whole yoga part of Sherry’s YTT.  Who wouldn’t want a life changing, but incredibly grounding experience? Even if I never practiced the physical, asana, part of yoga ever again, which I will, or never taught a yoga class, which I have now, the immense amount of real life “off the mat” yoga skills I acquired with the help of Sherry, her assistants and very special and astonishing guest teachers is beyond measure.  I have become a better husband, father, friend, co-worker, and person from their teaching.  I have become more present, aware, and successful in my daily life, in my yoga practice, and in my other sports.  I mean real success, internal, self rewarding, positive success. Who wouldn’t want that?  And my actual yoga practice ain’t too shabby now too.”- Blake Edmunds
